“Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018 Procession”

Background

          The National Tourism Policy Committee has been approved the designation of “Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018” starting from November 1, 2017 to January 1, 2019. The promotion aims to further strengthen the Thai tourism industry by making it more sustainable, focus on quality tourism, create higher economic value, and distribute tourism income to the regional areas of Thailand. It will also follow the development agenda of Thailand 4.0, based on the government’s 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan and 2nd National Tourism Development Plan that maintains a balance between the economy, environment and benefits for Thai society. Thus, the government, private sectors and public collaborate and join in hosting various activities to support Thailand to be the world’s top places to visit for both domestic and international tourists.

          The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) also launches a calendar of events in support of the ‘Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018’, featuring an action-packed schedule of unique Thai local experiences and a marquee of international events. The event calendar schedule includes Air Race 1 World Cup Thailand 2017, The 50th Anniversary of ASEAN International Fleet Review 2017, and 4th UNWTO World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism etc. Moreover, TAT has planned to hold the inauguration procession of “Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018” for officially opening “Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018”

The processions are divided into six parts;

1st Parade - The symbol of Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018

The first parade will showcase the symbol of Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018 with Lotus Goddess (Ms. Nittha Jirayungyurn) standing on a lotus in the sacred pond to represent harmony and happiness as a lotus with many layered petals arrayed around a central core.

 

2nd Parade – Traditions from The Five Regions of Thailand    

The second parade will highlight the amazing architectures and sculptures from each regions of Thailand. The procession involves;

Northern region - The miniature of Wat Phra That Sri Chom Thong, Chiang Mai with the northern Thai dance show and the northern tradition to take the sacred relic out of the mondop and put on display for people to worship called “Rub Phra That Jao Kao Wiang”

 

               Southern region - The miniature of Wat Phra Mahathat, Nakhon Si Thammarat with the Manorah dance show and the southern tradition to take the monk's cloths above your head and walk around the pagoda 3 times then offer to the pagoda called “Hae Pha Khuen That”.

Eastern region - The miniature of Kong Kao Festival (rice mould), Chonburi  with the rice farmer show.

North - Eastern region - The miniature of Phra That Phanom Chedi, Nakhon Phanom with Phu Thai Dance.

Central region – The miniature of Mon Songkran Festival in Sangklaburi, Kanchanaburi with Thai long drum dance.

              

 

3rd Parade – Thai Gastronomy

The third parade will focus on the varieties of distinctive Thai foods, desserts, and ingredients such as Tom Yum Kung, Mango with Sticky rice, and Tup Tim Krob. There will be Mr. Keng Tachaya reading the poem about food in Thai style (Kub Sepa).

 

4th Parade – The Colorful Festival

The fourth parade will showcase the various outstanding festivals that will happen in the kingdom of Thailand for example Thailand International Kite Festival, International Balloon Festival and Wonderfruit Festival.

 

5th Parade – Sports Tourism

The fifth parade will focus on sports tourism that will be held in Thailand in 2018 including Air Race 1 Thailand, Moto GP, Amazing Thailand marathon Bangkok 2018 and World Wai Kru Muay Thai. This parade will carry famous sport stars to show Marching Band.

 

6th Parade – Good Hosts

Finally, the sixth parade will showcase the miniature of airplane. The plane will contain the various occupations in the tourism industry waiting for our guests and visitors such as pilots, flight attendants, immigration officers and taxi drivers.
