Wonderful Day trip to Sattahip

A short drive south of the hustle and hustle Pattaya is the peaceful coastal town of Sattahip, a wonderful day trip destination for beach lovers and families.

Sea lovers would not hesitate to get into Sattahip Naval Base. Amazingly, the restricted area opens for public visit. Every weekend, the base turns busy with holiday makers who spend easy day on the untouched beaches like Toey Ngam Beach, Thung Prong Beach, or Nang Ram Beach.

The naval base is home to a number of sea turtles, which always excites kids. The navy collect turtles’ eggs from protected islands off the coast to hatch at the Sea turtle Conservation Center which plays significant roles in conserving turtles in the area for decades. Turtle babies will be released back to the sea when they are upto 6 months old, or strong enough for the ocean.

Anyway, if you want to hide out into the untouched nature, Koh Kham is the place to be. The small well preserved island houses white sandy beaches, wonderful view and turquoise color water. Limitation of daily visitors keep the islet clean and clear.

Sattahip houses a number of fishing villages, and of course, seafood markets. You can roam around among wide selection of the fresh catches of the day, ranging from local fishes to amazing-big crabs and lobsters. Many fish stalls offer cooking service and definitely, all dishes come with spicy and soar sauce as well as relatively cheap prices.

Anglers looking for fishing opportunity would love to go to Chong Samaesarn. Fishermen here know the secret sites. The village offers bungalow accommodation and charter boats to nearby islands where you can enjoy fishing or spending peaceful afternoon on the empty beaches.

Spend an easy day out at Sattahip, and you will know how your wonderful beach holiday can be.

How to get there: Sattahip is 108 miles southeast of Bangkok via highway 7.
