Wine Basket: great gift from Bang Rachan

When visiting Bang Rachan, in the province of Singburi, rattan basketry can be a great gift idea.

Ban Kok Prao Rattan Weaving Group weaves the dream out of rattan and offers a wide range of rattan basketry, including simple baskets like rattan boxes or laundry baskets for daily use, or even decorative items like fashion bags, rattan stool, cat baskets, ball-shaped lamps and many more.

Outstanding is the wine basket, which can hold two bottles of wine. The wine basket is made of woven rattan, padded with a rope pattern made of papyrus.

Visit the website and you will be amazed by the variety and product creativity. Basketry from Ban Kok Prao Rattan Weaving Group is among the best OTOP of Singburi. OTOP (One Tambon One Product) is a Thai entrepreneurship program to support local products.

Bang Rachan in Singburi province is a tiny village that became nationwide popular due to the courage of its ancestors, who sacrificed their lives by fighting against a larger army after the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767. Though the village has long been destroyed, its heroic epic remains. Today, Bang Rachan revived and turned into a themed market of yesteryear.

You will be amazed when coming across merchants in old-fashioned attires and shirtless swordsmen, making you feel like that you traveled back to the period of Ayutthaya with thatched roof kiosks and Thai traditional cuisine.

Take a stroll to visit Wat Pho Kao Ton, which is just a stone’s throw away. The historical site is a fortress of the Bang Rachan warriors. The replica of Bang Rachan Camp and the Spiritual Shrine of the warriors is located nearby.

How to get there: Bang Rachan is located 150 kilometer north of Bangkok accessible via Highway 32.
