Wake up for the exciting wakeboard

For thrill-seekers who love water sports, Thai Wake Park in Pathum Thani is the perfect day-trip destination where you can have fun while riding on and flying across the surface of water on a wakeboard.

Created in 1980s, the sport is a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing. Originally, the rider is fastened to a wakeboard and towed behind a motorboat at a speed up to 25 miles per hour (mph). Today, riders can ride a wakeboard in a safe environment of a cable park by handling an electric cable which has a control speed not over than 30kmph.

Thai Wake Park has the facilities for both beginners and professionals. The sport can be practiced by anyone regardless to ages. The only rule to remember is “do not fear.” If you want to try it, Thai Wake Park has beginning courses with trainers who can guide you to be able to ride a wakeboard within your first session.

For pros, the park has five-tower cable courses, a number of different ramps and even night ride experiences to add more excitement.

Prices start at 850 baht for a two-hour ride for a beginner or 1,100 baht for a private training course in a small group. The rates also include a life jacket and a wakeboard, service charge and VAT.

Thai Wake Park is open from 9am to 10.30pm from Sunday to Thursday and open until midnight during Friday and Saturday. It also has a restaurant, an accommodation and an outlet if you like the sport and want to have your own gears.

How to get there: From Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport, the easiest way is to take Motorway and make the exit at Lam Luk Ka. Turn right passing Big C and turn left right after crossing Lam Luk Ka Khlong 6 Bridge to Lam Luk Ka Tesaban 2 Road. Notice the Thai Wake Park sign for direction.
