Sanamya Market: the mecca of Ratchaburi’s local specialties

The province of Ratchaburi is now a destination where visitors can discover both the street art and the delicious dishes.

Sanamya Market or the Food Plaza at the Clock Tower roundabout near the river is a mecca for foodies in downtown Ratchaburi. "Sanamya" means "grass", but the market has none. In fact, the Food Plaza is adapted from a park with a green lawn and a fountain. The food market at the park has grown and has finally occupied the entire area.

The market is well developed, managed and has become a hub of specialties where locals and visitors can rely on, particularly in the evening. It offers a range of local dishes that refuel your energy after exploring the cities art scene.

"Pang Kon Thong" serves bread with various ingredients such as butter, Thai custard, pandan custard, shredded pork and chili paste. The bread is heated on a charcoal oven, which offers crispy clams and a delicious smell.

“Den Thai Ice Cream” is quite popular there as well. The shop creates new drinks by blending icecream with drinks, fruit, or fruit juice.

“Sui Hor Hia To” serves a Chinese style boiled rice with a range of dishes such as deep fried crispy fishes, tom yam, stir fried garlic chives with crispy pork and tofu.

“Hoy Tod” or fried mussels are available in both crispy and soft style. You can choose between green mussels and oyster. Other specialties like chicken rice, egg noodles, and abundance of dessert will make you want to explore more.

How to get there: Sanamya Market is on Montri Suriyawongse Road located in the heart of Ratchaburi Town. Ratchaburi is 100 km west of Bangkok accessible via highway 4.
