Riverside Dinners to Die For

There are many ways for you to have romantic dinner with the Chao Phraya River view. Some may like dining on a top floor of a sky-high hotel or a restaurant along the river. Some others may love to have a dinner cruise.

Instead of having dining buffet with a hundred of people and listen to their karaoke songs, you may want to experience a romantic dinner with Manohra Cruises. Set in a renovated classic rice barge, the luxurious dinner is operated by Anantara Riverside Bangkok and reserved only for up to 70 guests.

The cruise starts at the hotel’s pier on the west bank of Chao Phraya River on Charoen Nakhon Road. The dinner is a five course modern Thai set menu, which is regularly changed. It starts with a traditional starter with miang kham (a betel leaf wrap snack), followed by a selection of appetisers like lab pla tuna (spicy raw tuna salad) and thod mun kung (deep-fried prawn cake), tom yum kung, four dishes of main course including massaman nuea (yellow curry with beef cheek) and stir-fried tiger prawn in yellow curry. The course ends with Thai desserts like ripe mango with glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk and coffee or tea.

Along the route while a guitarist plays soft musics, you will see glittering sites of the Chao Phraya River ranging from the Ferris Wheel of Asiatique shopping mall, brilliance of Khlong San pier, Lhong 1919, the newly opened IconSiam megamall, the Memorial Bridge, Yod Phiman community mall, the Temple of Dawn, the Grand Palace and the Rama VIII Bridge, the last stop before the teak barge does a gentle turn and comes back to the hotel.

Within a two-hour cruise, you can see the major landmarks of Bangkok. Since no visit to Bangkok is complete without a trip on the River of Kings, the luxurious dining cruise is a fascinating way to see the city while having unforgettable dining experience.

How to get there: The easiest way to go to Anantara Riverside Bangkok is to take its shuttle boat from BTS skytrain’s Saphan Taksin station. The dining cruise is provided daily from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Visit www.manohracruises.com for more details.
