Riverine and fine dining at Bueng Kan

 

Sit back and relax, the riverine town of Bueng Kan offers plenty of nice dining places with the majestic view of the Mekong River. Listed below are some of the recommended riverside restaurants to enjoy while exploring the province.

Krua Savoy, Muang District

A spacious restaurant that boasts a great river view and superb services, Krua Savoy is among favorite places for group tourists. It is famed for Pla Kang (Redtail Mystus) and other fish dishes from the Mekong River. Fried soft-shell crab with garlic and pepper is also quite famous here.

Ngay Lang (Jim Joom), Muang District

Music fills up the air while the Mekong River view entertains all diners. The hotpot restaurant offers simple gazebos where you can enjoy more privacy and river breeze. Definitely, the signature dish here is pork hotpot and its spicy sauce in Isan (Northeastern Thai) style.

Maenam, Muang District

Besides the impressive panoramic river view, the restaurant will amaze you with various fish dishes from the Mekong River and other places. Deep fried Sheatfish topped with crispy garlic and steamed squids in lime sauce are recommended.

Kin Lom Chom Khong, Pak Kad District

The riverside restaurant is not situated in Muang District but in the adjacent Pak Kad District. It is known for Mekong fish dishes, particularly Pla Kang (Redtail Mystus). Either you want it in Tom Yam or in Larb (spicy herbal dish) style, the restaurant can cater to your request. Shrimp soaked in fish sauce and clown leatherback fishcake are also recommended here.

Ban Rim Khong, Pak Kad District

Large terrace allows diners to soak up with refreshing river breeze and spectacular backdrop of rugged mountain ranges at the horizon. With delicious cuisine, the restaurant is a famous place to hang out and enjoy the scenery of Bueng Kan.
