The community entrepreneur of Ban Sala Tam Sao, Phatthalung Province, knows this simple fact and meets the demand full-flavored cuisine lovers by offering the best Gaeng Som chili paste.

Gaeng Som is a Thai-style sour and spicy fish soup with vegetable. The classic staple curry is popular nationwide by its ease to cook. But Gaeng Som from the south is known for its very spicy taste.

Using all local organic ingredients namely chili, lemongrass, turmeric, ginger and galangal, the community entrepreneur develops chili paste to cook Gaeng Som, red chili paste for curry and chili paste for coconut milk curry. Now, they are available in modern packages for the ease of delivery. Just dilute it in the broth, adding meat and vegetable, you can get southern style Gaeng Som in minutes.

Certified by Thai FDA, its products do not contain any preservatives. It won 3-star OTOP awards in 2016. Besides, the entrepreneur also produces fresh chili paste for Gaeng Tai Pla.

Ban Sala Tam Sao is a short drive to Thale Noi, one of the best attractions in Khuan Khanun District. Covering an area of 113,000 acres, the wetland supports more than 180 species of resident and migratory birds. The largest waterfowl reserve is also protected under the international Ramsar wetlands preservation treaty.

While flocks of bird excite all the bird enthusiasts, the sea of blooming water lilies attracts flora enthusiasts to it. When they are in full bloom, the lake vibrantly turns red. The lotus blooming season is from February to May.

 

How to get there: Phatthalung is 528 miles south of Bangkok via highway 4. Ban Sala Tam Sao is 15 miles from Phatthalung town.
