Sunday evening always turns very busy and vibrant in old town Chiang Mai when a road is blocked and occupied by stalls. The Chiang Mai Sunday Market, the city ’s biggest walking street is shaping up.

From Tha Pae Gate at the east of the old town, the flea market runs all along Ratchadamnoen Road to the west. The flea market adds colors to the city with wide array of merchandises, food, even local events. Different from the famous Night Bazaar, items on offer here are art pieces, trinkets souvenirs, handmade crafts. Of course, you can slowly stroll for selecting and making slight bargain.

Wide selection of street food, ranging from local specialty, fresh fruits, grilled meat balls, to pancake of stick, also make shopper delighted. A number of refreshment stalls set along the road. While strolling, you will be distracted by various performance and music bans, including ban of the blinds.

Temples along the road turns into easy food courts where you can rest your legs and try the food you buy while watching the shoppers flow by. The Sunday Weekend Walking Street is among the most popular and vibrant shopping experiences in the city with a lot of local touch

The walking street is set among museum and temples. Plan you program wisely and you can spend easy visit before the market starts.
