Chang Phuek Hill: Sea of fog after the rain

A short drive from Thong Pha Phum National Park’s headquarters, there is the Chang Phuek Hill Viewpoint. A place where you will find yourself among the embrace of rugged mountains and panoramic view of the lush valley, filled with tropical rain forest. Particularly after the rain, the humidity from the forest will be transformed into fog and clouds, lingering over the valley.

At the viewpoint, the reservoir of Vachiralongkorn Dam and Chang Phuek Peak can be seen.

If you are looking for a unique thrilling route among the real wilderness of Kanchanaburi, the nearby Khao Chang Phuek is nice place to be.

This mountain is approximately 1250 meters above the sea level, ranked as the third highest mountain in Kanchanaburi. The last section before reaching its peak, ones have to pass a narrow path which is winding on the cliff top. The thrilling path is called “Sharp Mountain Ridge”, as it is pretty narrow, only one yard wide and surrounded by cliffs on both sides. However, the risky walk is worthwhile. The peak offers a panoramic mountain view of Kanchanaburi’s vast wilderness.

How to get there: Thong Pha Phum National Park is 200 kilometers northwest of Kanchanaburi city and around 65 kilometers from the Thong Pha Phum District.

Trekking to Chang Phuek Peak is strictly controlled by the national park with a limited number of daily visitors. The 8 kilometers long trekking route starts from Etong Village and usually takes approximately 4-5 hours.
