Banana Society : The Innovation of Banana

 

Sun dried banana syrup is a product innovation that dramatically adds value to the cheap tropical fruit.

When mention about syrup, consumers always think about maple syrup or apple syrup. Thailand eventually develops syrup which is by product from sun dried banana. The OTOP brand “Banana Society” is a good example of such product development.

Sun-dried banana is Thailand’s local product widely available. But the traditional process cannot meet hygienic and business standard. Normally, bananas will be simply dried in the sun and get dirty from insects and dust.  Moreover, rain mostly damages the sun dried banana. High humidity causes bananas to go mouldy and results in black skin instead of golden brown.

To meet international standard, Kluay Tak Buppa Community Entrepreneur, manufacturer of Banana Society’s products, adopts new technology and dries bananas in parabola dome. The dome offers a hygienic place to dry up the banana, in shorter period, from seven days in general to four days, and dramatically lower defect rate.

During the drying process, microbes turn flour in banana into monosaccharides and comes out on the skin. With over 70 degree brix, the light brown syrup has unique scent. It is rich with vitamin, amino acids, and good for those who are allergic to honey.

The syrup adds exceptional flavor to any beverage. The product get 3 star OTOP Award.
