Attraction Details

A little furtherfrom WatPhra Yuen is WatPhraThaenSilaAt, known for its namesake laterite sermon platform. The stone seat measures over three meters in length, its base patterned with sacred lotus petals. It is the only structure that remains standing after the assembly hall that housed it burned in a forest fire. Built during the Sukhothai period by an unknown person, it was finally restored during the reign of King Rama V. Worth noting are the intricately crafted teak door panels, which were taken from a different temple in nearby Phitsanulok.

A local arts and culture museum, complete with flower bed and herb garden, complete the compound. Wise visitors will plan a tour during its annual homage-paying fair, held on the full moon day of the third lunar month.

The temple is open daily between 6.00 am-5.00 pm. For more information, call 0 5545 3568.
