Horticultural Research Center is located on Sukhunvit Road, Tapon Sub-district, Khlung District, Chanthaburi Province, which is 269 kilometers from Bangkok. The area covers 206 Rai. The center was founded in 1992 and is responsible for doing research to solve the problems and develop the important tropical horticultural crops in central and east region of Thailand, such as rambutan, mangosteen, durian, wintergreen and other fruits in the same family, santol, and herb.Horticultural Research Center is an interesting agricultural tourist attraction in Chanthaburi Province. To enter the center, the tourists have to group up for no less than 10 people. They have to start at the tourist service center to be instructed by the officers. After that, they are to go for a walk in the garden. The center has arranged the route along the canal side of Khlong Nong Samet. On the way, the tourists can see the orchard along the shore and can taste the tropical fruits like durian, mangosteen, rambutan, and wintergreen closely. After walking for a while, the tourists will see a pavilion in a shady area along the canal, which is a resting point of the orchard walk tour so that the tourists can relax before continuing their walk again. However, apart from walking around to see the orchard, the tourists can also go cycling along the shady route for around 1.9 kilometers. It costs 20 baht per hour for a rented bicycle. The tourists can also see the orchard by taking a pulling trailer, which costs 200 baht per hour.Inside the center, aside from the orchard, there are more interesting tourist spots listed below.The garden of fragrant tree, which covers 2.5 Rai, is where more than 120 types of fragrant trees are collected.View point at Nong Samet Reservoir is a pavilion built above Nong Samet Reservoir. Thanks to the comfortably cool wind and the breath-taking nature, this place is a perfect place for relaxation.Direction: From the city center of Chanthaburi Province, go along Sukhumvit Road and head to Trat Province for around 11 kilometers.
