Betong Town, Amphoe Betong, Yala

Attraction Details

Although located in Thailand, thanks to the influence of neighboring Malaysia, Betong is a Malay word which means bamboo. The district in which Betong town is located is at the southernmost point of Thailand, about 140 kilometers from Amphoe MueangYala, on Highway No. 410. The road winds its way from Amphoe Than To to Amphoe Betong, offering scenic views of the lake, forest, and rubber plantations.

The Betongtown center is surrounded by mountains, resulting in a comfortably cool climate, plenty of rainfall, and foggy mornings. As a result, it has been dubbed “The City in the Fog with Beautiful Flowers” in Thai. Betong district is a well-developed area, with many Malaysian tourists visiting the area due to its proximity to the Thai-Malaysian border.

To get there, from Amphoe Mueang, one can take a van or taxi, which depart hourly from across the Yala Railway Station. From Hat Yai there is also an air-conditioned van to Yala and Betong, departing at 8.00 am, 10.00 am, and 1.00 pm. For more information, please call 0 7323 0905, 0 7323 3917-8.
