Mu Koh surin: the tropical paradise in Andaman

One of Thailand’s best dive sites, the twin islands of surin, off Phangnga’s coast, is a genuine tropical paradise modestly situated in the vast Andaman Sea.

Well protected with the status of a national park, the Mu Koh surin Islands are comprised of two small islands, Koh Surin Nuea, and Koh Surin Tai, and islets scattering around them. Of course, they all are home to one of the world’s largest diversities species of marine life. Thanks to their remote location, the crystal-clear water here makes them, including the diving pinnacle Richelieu Rock, unmatched diving and snorkeling destinations.

In the coastal water, colorful tropical fishes are quite common, while butterflyfishes, morays, sharks and sea turtles can be easily spotted. As whale sharks are regularly sighted off the north edge of surin Nuea Island, Koh Surin Tai is famed for its magnificent underwater seascapes and lively reef in vivid colors.

Snorkeling and dive sites are scattered across the archipelago. You can swim among colorful fishes at the nearby island of Koh Satok. If you fancy spotting sharks, Koh Torinla and Ao Pak Khad are your dream destinations. Ao Mai Ngam is outstanding with small and harmless reef sharks found daily in shallow water during the low tide.

While many holidaymakers visit Mu Koh surin for a day trip, it is recommended to spend one or two nights on the islands to absorb its pristine natural wonders.

How to get there: The surin Islands are located 25 miles west of Phangnga’s Kuraburi, 56 miles Northwest of Khao Lak and 93 miles Northwest of Phuket. Tour operators offer packages visit the islands.
