Sunflower Field, Wine Tasting and Cowboy Night – Saraburi

Each year from November until January, the full bloom of sunflower enriches Saraburi Province. This amazing beauty of million sunflowers and green hills under the clear blue sky attracts many visitors during the pleasing cool season. Depart Bangkok and drive along Phahonyothin Road for about 108 km, until you arrive in Saraburi Province.

Suggested Itinerary

The first day: Two recommended routes for Sunflower Field Sightseeing trip are:

1. Muak Lek – Wang Muang Route From Phahonyothin Road, turn to Mittraphap Road, and continue for 38 km to Muak Lek. You will see a sign for ‘Ched Sao Noi Waterfall’ and ‘Pa Sak Dam’. Turn left at this point onto Muak Lek – Wang Muang route. On both sides are bright yellow sunflower fields alternating with vineyards and corn fields. Eventually, the road will lead you through a tree tunnel and you can visit Muak Lek ATV, where you can rent an ATV. Bouncing over the bumpy hill slopes in an ATV is great fun. Later, relax with a superb Thai massage at Anamaya Spa. Complete the first day by paying homage to the Sacred Luang Pu Yai Pa Sak, as well as indulging in the breathtaking sunset view at Pa Sak Chonlasit Dam.

2. Sunflower Valley Route Drive along Phahonyothin Road and take Saraburi – Lopburi route passing sunflower plantations in Tambon Khao Din Phattana of Amphoe Chaloem Phra Kiat, Tambon Ban Klap of Amphoe Nong Don, as well as Tambon Na Yao of Amphoe Phra Phutthabat, where visitors can pay homage to Lord Buddha’s footprint at Wat Phra Phuttabat. Later, continue to Amphoe Kaeng Khoi and marvel at the sunflower valley at Tambon Hin Son and Tambon Ta Khlo. This route is also connected with Amphoe Phatthana Nikhom in Lopburi Province. Besides, visitors can join the Wang Muang - Muak Lek route by taking Highway 324 and 2089. After a full day of sightseeing, head home and dress up in cowboy style for the ‘Cowboy Night’ dinner party in Amphoe Muak Lek. Chill out with friends on haystacks, cooled by the fresh winter breeze dancing through the valley. The party features Country music, Cowboy shows and well-selected menus.

The second day
Have breakfast and depart for the Thai – Danish Dairy Farm. Visitors will enjoy sightseeing the Farm’s green field on a tram. In addition, visitors can observe cow feeding and milking demonstrations, and lassoing demonstrations as well. Another attraction is the museum of Thai and Danish Kings, where the history of the Farm is also exhibited. Before leaving, purchase the Farm’s dairy products at special prices.

Another suggested stop is Wat Tham Phothisat, where visitors will see an ancient engraved picture of Lord Buddha expressing kindness towards all living beings. The picture dates back to Dvaravati period of more than 1,600 years ago. On the way back to Bangkok along Mittraphap Road, several fashion factory outlets offer brand name clothes for sale.

Saraburi’s sunflowers blossom between November and January. For further details about routes and the Cowboy Night party, call 0 3621 88
