Recreational & Entertainment
Thais love to enjoy themselves, so accordingly you’re never short of entertainment options. For those who like traditional shows, there’s the Joe Louis Puppet Theatre in Bangkok and Pattaya. For grander options, try the epic FantaSea Show in Phuket or Alangkarn in Pattaya, both spectacular shows that depict Thailand through the ages.
Most towns and cities have a public park; Lumphini in Bangkok is one of the most famous and a good place to swap the skyscrapers and traffic for more serene surroundings. The Rama IX Royal Park in the capital is much newer and has a range of landscaping designs. Safari World is a good option for a day out as its home to many African and Asian mammals, such as tigers, zebras and bears that live within the huge grounds.
For more active recreational pursuits, Thailand has several world-class golf courses that come with exceptional facilities. Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Phuket all have several quality options. If you fancy a flutter, horse-racing takes place every weekend at Bangkok’s Royal Turf Club and the Royal Bangkok Sports Club.
