  1. On September 2, 2008, Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej declared a state of emergency in Bangkok.

    For the latest updates and official announcements by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, please visit the Ministry’s web site: www.mfa.go.th or check with Thai embassies and consulates nearest to you.

  2. Four international airports – Phuket, Hat Yai, Krabi and Surat Thani – have now resumed normal operations (Call Centre: 0 2132 1888)

    Tourists planning to travel to Thailand are therefore advised to check the latest situation regarding their travel plans with their travel agents or contact:

  3. Rail services in some provincial areas of the north and northeastern regions of Thailand have resumed. (Call Centre: 1690)

  4. TAT has been working in cooperation with the local authorities concerned in Phuket, Hat Yai, Krabi, Songkhla, and Surat Thani in order to facilitate tourists and expats stranded in these provinces.

  5. Mass transportation such as the BTS skytrain, subway, and bus services are in normal operation.

  6. Official bureaus, shopping centres and restaurants are open as usual except for schools in the Bangkok area that have been announced to close for 3 days.

  7. Tourists and expats in Bangkok should avoid the following areas:
    Chamai Maruchet Bridge, Government House, Sanam Luang (Royal Ground), and Ratchadamnoen Road.

  8. Travel is possible to all other parts of the country.
