SAMITIVEJ ADDS 3 NEW INFOTAINMENT SERVICES

28 May 2008 – Samitivej, a leading hospital in Thailand and the Southeast Asian region, added three new infotainment services with 3 majer companies ; Grammy,  NC Ture , TAT – music and music therapy, online game and travel information, all are delivered right to the patients’ beds, enabling all patients to enjoy every moment in life even though they are in hospital. The new service is a part of the hospital’s commitment to provide the best care to all its patients, a commitment that has been held true for 29 full years.

Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital Director Dr. Somsiri Sakolsatayadorn disclosed that the hospital has implemented advanced IT system for a while. In an attempt to make Samitivej the “connected hospital”, digital technology is deployed to increase operational efficiency and patients’ convenience and comfort. This plan also strengthens the hospital’s leadership in medical and service quality, innovation and excellence.

“Our infotainment service was implemented in late 2007. It has received great response ever since,” said Dr. Somsiri. “Today, we make another progressive move by adding three new infotainment services that are not only entertaining but also informative and useful for the patients. Being in a hospital does not mean that the patients cannot enjoy their lives. We believe that when the patients remain able to enjoy their favorite activities, such as listening to their favorite songs, singing karaoke or playing fun games, they will get well quickly and return to normal life faster.”

Samitivej has cooperated with leading companies in Thailand to provide the best infotainment services as follows:

• Music on Demand: Samitivej was awarded the right to use as many as 10,000 best-selling songs from Grammy, Thailand’s top music company, for its infotainment service. A large variety of music therapy songs is also offered to help patients feel more relaxed, thus recover faster.
• Online game: 100 games per month, supported by NC True, are offered to keep the patients happy.
• Patient service: The Tourism Authority of Thailand will deliver right to the patients’ rooms the most updated travel information and interesting activities for tourists.

To provide maximum convenience, Samitivej provides an LCD monitor, wireless keyboard, a remote control and Set Top Box equipment for digital signal transforming to provide crystal clear TV and audio services for great enjoyment in the patient’s room.

In addition to the three new services, inpatients can also enjoy a large variety of other existing infotainment services, such as information about the hospital, medical service fee, cable TV programs, Bistro in-room dining service. Doctors and medical team can also quickly retrieve information about the patients, medical history and other information, such as X-Ray film, from computers or even share significant information and X-Ray films to patient’s family in the patient’s room.

“In the future, more services will be added. Our patients must receive the best service and have the best quality of life. Our medical team must receive the highest convenience and support to enable them to work most efficiently. Samitivej has traveled through almost 29  years of our Journey of Care and we will continue our journey for even better services and better care for our customers,” said Dr. Somsiri.
