Seminar on Japanese Tourist Service

Rationale:
 The Seminar on Japanese Tourist Service is a project arranged by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in cooperation with the ASEAN Japan Centre for Trade, Investment, and Tourism Promotion, whose office is in Japan, owing to an awareness of the significance of maintaining existing Japanese tourists, one of the country’s major markets. This project has been continuously operated since 1982 both in Bangkok and in other provinces, especially where major attractions are situated, with an aim to provide knowledge for entrepreneurs in the tourism industry in order that they could provide a quality service for Japanese tourists.
 This seminar is held under the overseas market strategy, “Visit Thailand Year” which would not only increase the service quality and personnel’s potential in the tourism industry, particularly those who are responsible for facilitating Japanese tourists, but also help to reinforce the “Thailand” brand. This would create tourists’ positive attitudes towards our country while we could maintain our existing marketing base       as well.
 
Objectives:
 1. To provide knowledge on Japanese tourists’ outbound tourism trend and quality services for Japanese tourists.
 2. To support the reinforcement of the “Thailand” brand.
 3. To support the network formation of alliances among entrepreneurs and personnel in the tourism industry.

Project Period:          
 Monday, 10 - Tuesday, 11 November, 2008

Venue:
 Chiangmai conference room, Empress Convention Center, the Empress Hotel, Chiang Mai province
Target:
 Entrepreneurs; top executives of hotels, travel agencies, transportation businesses, restaurants, food shops, souvenir shops, airlines; attraction owners; hotel and tourism associations; officials of TAT, relevant government agencies, and educational institutes. It is supposed to be a training course at an intermediate level for 60 participants.

         Since there is no registration fee, seat reservation will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

 Expected Results:
 1. Participants gain knowledge on Japanese tourists’ tourism trend, statistics, and tourism situation of Japan, which is one of the key markets, in order to help devise appropriate plans and strategies.
  2. Participants could make use of the knowledge gained to provide services for Japanese tourists.
