The Provincial Cultural Office of Chanthaburi has been honoured from The Eastern Regional Cultural Office to be a host and organizer of The National
Cultural Exhibition to mark the celebration of the 80th birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol. “1000 years of Chanthaburi’s Ways of Life 2008” has been organizered under the supervision of the Governor of Chanthaburi, who is a president of the organizer of this exhibition. This exhibition is taking place on 21-30 November 2008 at the areas around the Lake of Tung Na Choei,  Chanthaburi.

The objectives of organizing this exhibition are to honour His Majesty the King in his 80th birthday anniversary and to disseminate the traditions of the beautiful Cultures of Thailand and slso to promote the regional tourism by organizing aHost of activities and events for 10 days. They consist of the exhibitions of the history of the city from the era of “Chatra Buri”, the era of King Taksin theGreat, the French Colonisation to the time of the Queen Rambhai Barni.

Additionally there will be the range of other exhibitions such as the exhibitions of Thai cultures, arts, and ways of life from all four regions of the country and from the descendants of the immigrants from Vietnam, Cambodia and China. There will also be the exhibitions organized by the civil service authorities. And there will be a range of contests to keep you entertained in which they are the contest of the Cultural Junior, and the contest of the traditional Thai fabrics to win the cup from the Office of The National Culture Commission in Ministry of Culture.

And to make this major event even greater and more interesting there will  be a number of festivals running alongside with it which are the art exhibitions from the celebrated national artists, the contest of local products, the gemstones festival, the famous local foods festival, the new year presents festival, religion activities to promote the practices of the Buddhism, the exhibition of traditional medical practices of Thailand, tourism promotional activities, the exhibition of tracing the tracks of King Taksin’s army, the diner with the touch of the past in the style of “Tapok
Chalong Muang”, and many others.
