Ratchaprasongjoins hands with 3 partners to give Thailand its first-ever 4D street art showcase in “Living Arts Festival 2013 @Ratchaprasong”
Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA)is joining forces with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Nannapas Publisher Co., Ltd. and Bangkok Mass Transit System Pcl. (BTSC) to create an art sensation through “Living Arts Festival 2013 @Ratchaprasong”, the first-ever outdoor street art right in the heart of Bangkok. A team of 19 artists led by the world’s top names will together turn Ratchaprasong into a capital museum of living art on an expansive area of 106,000 square metres with their outdoor 4D street art creations combined with special lighting and a range of exceptional elements. The exhibition will be open free of admission to general public on 27 February – 10 March, 2013and will expectedly attract more than 1.5 million visitors into Ratchaprasong during the festival period.
TAT’s Chairwoman Pensuda Priaram commented, “TAT is pleased to play our part as a main sponsor of Living Arts Festival 2013 @Ratchaprasong, which is tipped as a new sensation in Thailand’s street art scene because it will be the first-ever 4D street art showcase in Thailand. Added with the fact that the venue, Ratchaprason, is a key district that centralizes business, trade and tourism of Bangkok, this upcoming event will be even more interesting and more attractive to visitors. The festival will solidly enhance the image of Bangkok tourism as a clearly captivating destination for both Thai and foreign visitors. At the same time, it will open up a new perspective of Bangkok through 4D art, creating a new alternative of Bangkok’s tourism attraction. TAT projects an audience of 1.5 million people for this festival throughout its exhibition period, divided into 40% Thais and 60% foreigners.”

And to keep the district animated all year round with an enlivening feel of extraordinary events, our preparation for another major global event is currently underway. (BTSC) to hold “ Living Arts Festival 2013 @Ratchaprasong” as the first-ever 4D street art festival in Thailand on 27 February - 10 March this year. The festival will be a sensational outdoor exhibition of 4D art that has previously kept people spellbound in a number of countries around the world, including UK, USA, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, Mexico and Ukraine.”
Living Arts Festival 2013 @Ratchaprasongis an investment of more than 40 million baht to bring together 19 internationally renowned artists from across the world. Together, they will create their mesmerising arts under the theme of “The Street of Art The Street of FUN” right here in the Thai capital. Ten of them, who are award-winning veterans in 4D street painting and illusion painting, will create 4D street art on ten different areas of Ratchaprasong, a combined area of 106,000 square metres. Their canvases will be the front grounds of Gaysorn, the InterContinental Bangkok and Amarin Plaza, the front and lateral grounds of Erawan Bangkok Department Store, plus an unprecedented street art creation on the stretch of BTS Skywalk from Chidlom Station to the entrance to Zen. At this festival, general public will be able to appreciate street art more closely. Each creation will be measured 12 – 40 square metres to awe-inspire the audience with illusory effects of subtle colours and lines as if the viewers can really become part of these paintings. The artists will employ special techniques to render 4D effect on their art creations, which will greatly enhance viewers’ experience and appreciation of each piece.
Explained Yudh Wanitchanon, the advisor of Nannapas Publisher who initiated this festival, “In addition to 4D art creations, this festival will also feature a special exhibition called “Living Statue”. Nine globally famous artists will be invited to create portrait sculptures of the world’s most famous historical figures from various periods, including Charlie Caplin, Cupid, Van der Werf, Night in Venice, Jester, Terra and Psyche. Living Arts Festival 2013 @Ratchaprasongwill be on exhibit from 27 February until 10 March 2013, during which visitors and general public can see all processes of the art creation. The official opening ceremony will be held on 1 March.”
“As for public communication strategy,” added Khun Korakot, “RSTA will utilize media channels of all RSTA members to build awareness of this festival among Thai and international visitors, such as printed publications, leaflets and online communication through RSTA website, Facebook page and mobile application. Public relation support will also be given by our partner organizations through channels of communication like BTS’ in-station media, public relations through travel agencies, and TAT’s tourism website.”
