The Tiger Temple is located in Kanchanaburi province, Thailand. In 1999, the temple recieved the first tiger cub that had been found by villagers. Unfortunately it died soon after. Later, several tiger cubs were given to the temple many times because their mothers had been killed by poachers that wanted to get cubs like their "pets". When the tigers were getting to big and the laws about the keeping protected species became more strict, tiger owners had to give them to the temple.  

As of 2007, over 21 cubs had been born at the temple and the total number of tigers was about 12 adult tigers and 4 cubs. As of late March 2011, the total number of tigers living at the temple has risen to almost 90.

The Tiger Temple practices a different conservation philosophy than in the west. Alcohol is not allowed around this site. Additionally please wear casual clothing (no sleeveless shirt, shorts and mini-skirt). Red, orange and pink clothes are not allowed.
