Thailand’s world-class seaport, stunning beaches, and international spas and resorts attract about four million visitors a year. If you had to sum up Thailand’s largest island in one word, it would probably be “marine”. Every conceivable marine activity is available, including many for seniors, whether active or not so active.
From sailing to diving and snorkeling, to a leisurely cruise around the magnificent bay on a traditional junk with modern amenities, you’ll need a month of Sundays to experience all that Phuket has to offer.
Most of the excitement takes place on the south side of Phuket’s west coast, with the more tranquil seaside villages located to the north. So if a Las Vegas-style show on steroids is not your cup of tea, you might wish to enjoy the awesome silence of the island’s caves while paddling a kayak, or sea canoe.
Alternatively, you could simply plop yourself down in a beach chair for a week, contemplating all those things you might do – when you feel like it.
