Attraction Details :
This Catholic church was once a simple hut. Over the years, the church was renovated many times, with its current version built in 1947 by villagers banding together to contribute wood for the church’s construction. Nearly 300 trees were used in its construction, with 80,000 pieces of wood supporting the roof.
It is built in the traditional Thai style and is said to be the largest wooden Catholic church in the Kingdom. Since 2005, provincial administrative authorities have conducted mass Catholic weddings each year on Valentine’s Day for those wishing to marry. The church is quite off the beaten tourist trail.
The church is located in Ban Nong Song Yae, at Mu 2 Tambon Kham Toei. It is approximately 45 kilometers from AmphoeMueang. To get there, take Highway No. 2169 (Yasothon – LerkNokTha Road.) Turn left after passing AmphoeKut Chum for 7-8 kilometers, and keep going for 600 meters.
