Amphoe Sam Khok, Pathum Thani
Category : Temple
Attraction Details :
This historic temple is the first of its kind in Pathum Thani, constructed by Mon ethnic minority migrants from Burma. Located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, Wat Sing houses an Ayutthaya-style gilded Buddha image, Luang Pho To, depicted in a rare Mara posture, as well as the statue of Luang Pho Phet, a reclining Buddha image.
Within the compound is also a museum for Mon antiques, once the residence of the temple’s monks. A teak reproduction of the footprint of the Lord Buddha as well as a bedstead utilized by King Rama II during his visit to Sam Khok are on display. Visitors can also witness a local craft - the area is known for the production of old-style Mon bricks, signature Pathum Thani products.
To get there, take the Pathum Thani-Sam Khok route for approximately 3 kilometers. Turn right at the crossroads to the temple.
The temple is open daily from 8.00 am-5.00 pm.
