Attraction Details :
This temple was built during the later portions of King Rama V’s reign. A high-ranking leader, the Lord Lieutenant of Udon Circle (named Maha Ammat Tri Phraya Sisuriyaratchawaranuwat) persuaded the villagers of Mak Khaeng to build the temple, which was at the time commonly called Wat Mai.
Later on, the Supreme Patriarch Phra Chao Worawongthoe Krommaluang Chinnawonsiriwat (who holds the highest Buddhist ecclesiastical position in Thailand) of Wat Ratchabophitsathitmahasimaram renamed the temple to Wat Photisomphon. The new name is meant to honor the founder of the temple, the Lord Lieutenant of Udon Circle. Inside is a museum dedicated to revered Thai monks, famed for their meditation.
This temple is located on Pho Si Road in Tambon Mak Khaeng.
