Amphoe Lue Amnat, Amnat Charoen
Category : Temple
Attraction Details :
The temple houses interesting ancient, large, white sandstone boundary stones (called Sema) leaves from the Dvaravati period, which dates back 1,000 years ago. Built during 7th-8th Century in the Khmer style, the Semas have a tapered end and narrow base, carved in the shape of a lotus. Above the carved lotus is engraved a stupa, water pot and bell.
The base of the stone leaves are influenced by the lotus petal patterns from Buddhist altars, or from the Dharma Wheel, often found in Central Thailand, originating from the Dvaravati period. Similar patterns have been found at Khao Noi Si Chomphu Khmer Ruins, in Amphoe Aranyaprathet, Sa Kaeo Province.
The temple is situated at Ban Pueai Hua Dong, Tambon Pueai.
