Wat Pak Khlong Makham Thao, otherwise known as Wat Luangpu Suk, is a historic temple situated at the mouth of a canal called Khlong Makham Thao. Legend has it there was an old tamarind tree, or “Makham Thao” in Thai, in front of the temple and on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, after which the temple and canal were named. The shady temple offers pleasant scenery and houses murals painted by the Master of the Thai navy, HRH Prince of Chumphon.

Moreover, it is famed for its highly-regarded Buddhist amulets, issued by the temple’s highly revered senior Buddhist monk Luangpu Suk. Other attractions are Luangpu Suk’s traditional Thai style residence. The lettering of the captions of the paintings are in ancient Khmer script. On the wall on the southern end of the temple are inscriptions that state the captions were written in 1890.

The temple is located at Mu 1, Tambon Makham Thao, Amphoe Wat Sing, Chai Nat, some 25 kilometers from the provincial town of Chai Nat. To get there, proceed via the Amphoe Wat Sing route, through Highway No. 3183 at Km. 36 - 37.

The temple is open daily from 8.00 am-5.00 pm.
