Wat Khemaphirataram Rajaworawiharn is located on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River in Tambon Suan Yai, just a couple of kilometers south of center of town. The temple covers an area of over 10 acres, its back facing Phibun Songkhram Road. The lovely temple was built during the Ayutthaya period and later during the reign of King Rama II, it was given the name Khema. Under Queen Srisuriyenthramat’s patronage, the temple was later renovated.

Behind the temple hall lies the main 30-meter tall pagoda, named Phra Maha Chedi, said to contain the relics of Lord Buddha, as well as Ayutthaya-style Buddha images that were brought from Chan Kasem Palace. The Monthian Throne Hall and the Daeng Royal Residence’s beautiful architecture can also be enjoyed within the temple compound.

There are many bus routes that arrive at the temple – for more information, call the hotline at 1584. Alternatively, take a Rewadi-Pak Nam local truck (or open-air taxi), or even the Chao Phraya Express Boat: disembark at Nonthaburi Pier, and then take the No. 203 bus. Visitors can also take a ferry from Bang Si Muang Pier to Nonthaburi Pier, and then connect with another No. 203 bus.

The temple is open daily from 8.00 am-5.00 pm. For more information, call 0 5551 4341-3.
