Tambon nang Buat, Amphoe Doem Bang Nang Buat, Suphanburi
Category : Temple
Attraction Details :
Phra Achan Thammachot, after whom this mountaintop temple was named, was a Buddhist monk who played an important role in Bang Rachan villagers’ battle against Burmese troops. Known for his expertise in talismans, used to bring fortune and protect their wearers, the Bang Rachan villagers invited him to boost morale and provide encouragement in their fight against the Burmese soldiers.
The Wihan (image hall) houses the Lord Buddha’s footprint. Chedi Hin Phaen, a fairly tall pagoda made of stone slabs, stands next to the Wihan (prayer hall). There is also a statue of Phra Achan Thammachot in the ordination hall. Visitors can also enjoy the beautiful views of Amphoe Doem Bang Nang Buat from the mountaintop.
The temple is located on Nang Buat Mountain 51 kilometers from downtown. To get there, take Highway 340 to Km 138-139 and follow an asphalt road up to the temple on the mountain (named Khao Nang Buat), or walk a flight of 249 steps to the mountaintop. It is open daily from 6.00 am-5.00 pm.
