WatChaloemPhraKiatWorawiharn is a royal monastery located to the west of the Chao Phraya River. It was constructed under the royal command of King Rama III in dedication to his mother and grandparents who resided in the nearby area. The temple and monastery was only later completed, during the reign of King Rama IV. The intermingling of Thai and Chinese styles in the construction of the temple’s Ubosot (or chapel) offer a peaceful, multi-cultural setting. The Ubosots boast an earthen mosaic roof of natural colors, laid in a Chinese style, and beautiful Chinese mosaics crafted into a striking flower on the upper part of the Ubosot. Inside are colorful murals of falling flowers, door and window panels with lacquered gold leaf designs, gables with raised plaster flower designs, a floor decorated with mirrors, and drawings of lotuses, birds and aquatic animals. On the other hand, coming from a different culture, is a Lanka pagoda and Phra Si Maha Pho PhanPhothikhayastupa dating from the reign of King Rama IV.
The temple is located at SoiChaloemPhraKiat 15, Tambon Bang Si Mueang, AmphoeMueang, Nonthaburi. It is open to visitors from 8.00 am-5.00 pm daily.
