Attraction Details :
Just 20 kilometers from the heart of Phayao province lies the hilltop Wat Analayo Thipphayaram. The temple grounds are replete with Sukhothai-style Buddha images in a variety of postures: reclining, walking, and seated. Mythic seven-headed Nagas, or sea serpants, guard some of the cherished statues.
Wat Analayao Thipphayaram’s Rattana Chedi, or pagoda, was constructed in the Indian Bodh Gaya artistic style, a fusion of Thai and Indian cultures. A nearby Chinese pavilion reveals Eastern influences, housing Kuan Yin Bodhisattva (a deity) and a glittering gold replica of the world-famous Emerald Buddha image. Sweeping panoramic views of the town and the Kwan Phayao lake can be observed from the summit.
To get there, take Highway No. 1 Phayao – Chiang Rai route from the town. Passing Km. 743 for 7 kilometers, turn left onto Highway 1127 – 1193. Thetemple can be seen after 9 kilometers. It is located at Doi Butsarakham, Ban San Pa Muang, Mu 6, San Pa Muang, Amphoe Mueang, Phayao.
The temple is open daily from 8.00 am-5.00 pm.
