Attraction Details :

Ton Pariwat Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Song Phraek Sub-district. The area is shaded by a variety of trees. The main attraction of the sanctuary is the waterfall Namtok Ton Pariwat or known among locals as “Namtok Song Phraek,” located 100 meters away from the Wildlife Sanctuary office. The low-rise waterfall has a pond down below where there is still some deposits of ores. During rainy season, the water gushes down strongly. At the sanctuary, there is also a 2-kilometer-long nature trail where tourists can see Bua Phut (Rafflesia kerrii), the world’s largest flower of approximately 80 centimeters in diameter, along the route. It is a parasitic plant that grows roots of Yan Kaitom (Tetrastigma papillosum Planch.) It has five petals in reddish brown. Bua Phut is rare and to be found only in a fertile forest. It blooms towards the end of the rainy season around October. Along the route, there are traces of old mines, birdwatching spots that indicate the fertility of the forest, Namtok Hin Phoeng which is a river source and etc. A guide is needed for trekking along the trail, which takes about 1 hour. At present, a package tour is offered by travel agencies which include trekking on an elephant’s back through intact forests along both sides of the stream. Rafting is available for adventure lovers. It takes approximately 45 minutes and available throughout the year.
