Thap Lan National Park is the second largest national park in Thailand with the area of approximately 1,397,375 Rai (2,235.80 sq.km.). The area covers Amphoe Pak Thong Chai , Wang Nam Khiao,  Khonburi, Soeng Sang of Nakhon Ratchasima Provinceakhon Ratchasima Province; and Amphoe Nadee of Prachin Buri Province. It is prosperous forests including Lan (fan plam) forest with natural palm trees which are very rare. It is the origin of many rivers and the nature, including cliffs and waterfalls, is so beautiful. In the past, the Lan forests were so rich with palm trees spreading around the area in the northeast region. Later on, with the expansion of agriculture, palm forests were invaded and damaged. Nowadays, only few forests survived such as in Baan Tab Lan, Baan Bupram, and Baan Wang Mued of Prachin Buri Province.

The palm forest is a deciduous forest dense with palm trees in the area of approximately 200 Rai on the plain on Khao Lamang Mountain, Bupram Sub-district, Nadee Province, Prachin Buri. It is home to a number of wild animals including squirrels, rats, wild rabbits, mongooses, barking deers, white hawks etc.

Thap Lan National Park has many significant mountains, for example, Khao Lamang, Khao Pu Sam Ngam, Khao Yai, Khao Wong, Khao Salad Dai, Khao Tid Si, Khao Mai Plong, Khao Tub Jek, and Khao Daan Ngiew. Khao Lamang is the highest with the height of 992 metres above the sea level. It is a long mountain range creating natural ravines, abysses, and waterfalls. It also creates many water souces such as Huay Kamin, Huay Pla Kanang, Huay Kum Chae, Huay Kum Keerad, Huay Mun Samngam, Huay Puhorm, Huay Kra Ting etc. The brooks meet and merge into Mun River. Some of them create Bang Pakong River.

Thap Lan National Park is low-land evergreen forests, such as the green imperial pigeon, stork-billed kingfisher and scaly-crowned babbler. The ecology of the park is mixed between that of the forests in the middle part and northeast region of Thailand. There is a high diversity in flora and fauna.
