Attraction Details :

The Chao Pho Khun Dan Shrine commemorates a local administrative leader during the reign of King Naresuan the Great, during the Ayutthaya Kingdom era. While Ayutthaya was engaged in fierce battle with  Burmese forces, the neighboring Khmer military seized the opportunity to invade Nakhon Nayok and annex the city. The Khmer army occupied Prachin Buri and Nakhon Nayok, forcing Khun Dan and residents to flee to Khao Cha-ngok. It was here that famed leader, Khun Dan, set up a base to mobilize the people to fight back, eventually successfully defeating the Khmer in 1587. In addition, according to folklore, when the Japanese army in World War II used Khao Cha-ngok as a stronghold and destroyed the shrine, the supernatural spirit of Khun Dan retaliated by killing a number of Japanese soldiers. As a result, the shrine is now one of the most highly respected shrines by local residents.

The shrine is open 24 hours a day, every day.
