The historical monument commemorates the accomplishments of the Prince of Chumphon, a son of King Rama V. Prince Chumphon established the modern Thai navy and is respected by all naval personnel, fishermen, and others in the marine industry. His picture can be seen in many of the homes in Chumphon.

The monument includes a shrine and a 68-meter-long torpedo warship. This warship was decommissioned in 1975 and moved to the monument four years later. The monument is adjacent to an extensive herb garden. The herb garden was established to conserve valued medicinal herbs and to commemorate the Prince of Chumphon, who was interested in using traditional medicine to treat the sick.

The Prince of Chumphon Monument is open to the public from 6.30 am-8.00 pm. For further information, please contact 08 9875 5422.

To reach the monument , which is located at Mu 1, Tambon Pak Tako, take Phetkasem Road south from Chumphon town. Turn left to Highway 4096 for 1 kilometer.
