Prasat Hin Phanomwan is located at Baan Makha, Pho Sub-district, Khorat- Kon kaen road, Nakhonratchasima. It is an ancient remains which was built by the belief of Khmer people. It was built during Buddhist era 16-17. Later, it was adapted as a Buddhist religious place and it is in the 5th rank of the biggest stone castle.

The main body of Prasat Hin Phanomwan was enclosed with the walk path corridor which is 25.5 meters long, 10.20 meters wide. The castle got three arches on three sides. The northern arch is where the Buddha image in the posture of forgiveness stays. The Buddha image was designed as an Ayuttaya style. There are many rooms enclosed the castle which are 54 meters wide, 63.30 meters high. There are four entrance exits. The east door got one large pond which is called ‘Sra Pleng’ and it can still be used until today. The south east side of the castle, there is one tower of red sandstone and it is called ‘Prang Noi’

The highlight of Prasat Hin Phanomwan

- It is a religious place which is designed in Brahman style. But, the Buddhist image was explored here.

- The structural plan is in the same style as Prasat Hin Pimai in Papuan style.

- The construction went through very tough because there is no sandstone mountain nearby.

How to get there :

By Car

The easiest way is to start at Thao Suranari Monument (Ya Mo Monument) and head to Jor Hor Sub-District. Take mitraphab road (Sura Narai) and pass by Nakhonratchasima University. Keep heading to Khon Kaen and cross the bridge for 7 kilometers more. When you reach at the junction, you will spot the traffic sign indicating ‘Wat Nhong Bua, Wat Nhong Jok, Wat Phanomwan’ on your right. Turn right along the way for 5 kilometers and you will reach at the destination.
