Phuket Seashell Museum, a fascinating tourist attraction near Rawai Beach, collects seashells form everywhere in the world – Thailand’sSea, Mexico Bay, or South Africa.
This museum was caused by the seashell collection of Mr.SomnuekPatthamakhanthin. It has been opened for more than 10 years. Its outstanding and remarkable place has been attracted by key figuresworldwide. Dr.Thon Thamrongnawasawat, a marine scientist, admired it as the best private natural science museum in Thailand.
The exhibition is on display in an eye-catching building. Seashells in varied sizes and colorswere put in order and beautifully presented with full information. Tourists are excited by seeing fossils of seashells that lived hundreds of millions of years ago andgiant seashells that weigh more than 250 kilograms. Also, visitors can appreciate the beauty of gold color pearls weighing 140 carats and many valuable seashells. Hence, it is a great place for tourists interested in the marine ecosystem and for children who can also enjoy learning awide variety of seashells.
It is located on Wiset Road, Rawaisub-district, Mueang district, Phuket province. It is open daily from 8.00 am to 06.00 pm. Entrance fee for Thai adults is 100 baht, Thai children 50 baht, foreign adults 200 baht and foreign children 100 baht. For more information, call 07 638 1888 or 07 638 1274.
