Ngao Waterfall is a famous waterfall significant to the Province of Ranong. The waterfall is a head tuner as everyone who passes the city centre will see it running down from the high cliffs. Ngao Waterfall is located in the District of La Oon in the Province of Ranong but it runs through several DIstircts including Sawee, ToongTako, LuangSuan, Pa Tohanf the Province of Choompon. The National Park is perched across 417,500 Rai of land (1 Rai = 1,600 Sqm.) It was announced as a National Park on June 3, 1999.

The highlight of this National Park is the Ngao Waterfall which runs down from a steep cliff/ It can be seen from very long distances. The water pressure is strongest in June while it is advisable for visits from November to April. Ngao Waterfall and its surrounding area is habitat to an untouched group of wild animals such as the Chao Fah Crab. The crab is found only at this particular waterfall. Its significant characteristics include white claws and body and purple legs and eye sockets. They are found living among stone edges in fresh clean water. During December, the Komarsum Orchid is also at full bloom. It is also known as DondrobiumFormosum, having similar characteristics to a large orchid with white petals and a yellow centre piece. Komarsum Orchid is Ranong’s provincial flower.

In travelling to the National Park of Ngao Waterfall from Ranong city centre, take Highway No. 4 (Ranong -Ratchakrud) for 13 kilometers and take left turn on to a tarmac road which will lead you to the office after 1 kilometer.
