Mukdahan National Park or Pha Thoep Mountain is home to 48.5 square kilometers of high connecting mountains, the Manorom, Nang Hong, Pha Thoep, Tham Phra, Lak Se, Rang, Pong, and Kham Mak Mi mountain with Chom Si mountain being the tallest peak at 420 meters above sea level. The forest is the source of several waterways and home to a different variety of hardwoods with parts of the terrain being wide rock plateaus and steep cliffs. Visitors will find strange and peculiar shaped rock formations on Pha Thoep Mountain which was believed to be a dirt mountain that eventually eroded through wind and rain. The rocks contrasting the different flowers make for a spectacular sight towards the end of the rain season in October. The largest mountain, Tham Phra Mountain contains a waterfall and a cave where visitors will find hundres of Buddha and animal images. Visitors may also visit the Fa Mu Daeng cave on Pha Thoep Mountain where they will find prehistoric drawings and paintings estimated to be more than 5,000 years old.

Mukdahan National Park is situated 17 kilometers from the city. Getting there, take the Mukdahan-Don Tan Rd and right at between the 14-15 km marker and proceed for another 2 kilometers.
