Bang Pakong River originates from the Korat plateau, passing through Prachin Buri, Amphoe Bang Nam Priao and Bang Khla of Chachoengsao, and ending in the Gulf of Thailand at Amphoe Bang Pakong after a distance of 230 kilometers.

A cruise is the best way to appreciate the sights of this beautiful river, with a recommended two-hour trip of 25 kilometers. The tour departs from the pier of a temple, Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan, and passes along the town of Chachoengsao, where visitors can admire the nature and daily lifestyles of the residents on the river banks, as well as their traditional stilt houses. Noteworthy sights include the largest teak building in Chachoengsao, palace of Krommakhun Maruphong Siriphat, traces of ancient walls, old city hall, old raft houses, historic temples such as Wat Mueang, Wat Laem Tai and Saint Paul’s Church. Tourists can hire boats at the pier of Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan, or in town. A long-tailed boat can accommodate 8-10 people, and a large boat will accommodate up to 40 people.

For more information on charter boats, contact the Bangpakong Charter Company Limited, which has boat tours on weekdays from 12.00 pm-2.00 pm, and on weekends from 9.00 am-3.00 pm, at 08 5255 6609, 0 3851 4333, 08 9668 1726 or 08 9666 4266. Alternatvely, visit the website at www.bpkcruise.com.
