KohYor is the only one island in the lower part of Songkhla Lake. It is situated at the southwestern direction of Muang District of Songkhla Province. It is a sub-district in Muang District. Its area is about 15 square meters. The amount of population is about 4,000 people in 9 villages. KohYor Municipality is the local administration that develops the sub-district in many aspects. To visit KohYor, there are 2 connections on Tinnasulanont Bridge from KohYor to Muang District and Singhanakorn District.There is an asphalt road around the island. Most areas in KohYor are low mountains, foothill next to the sea, and large plain in the southern part of the island.

The total area of KohYor is about 9,275 rai. Most areas are mountain slopes and foothills, suitable for agriculture. The fruit agricultural style here called “Soomroom” provides fruits throughout the year such as oranges, coconuts, jackfruits. The famous fruit of KohYor is “Cham Pa Da”, a fruit similar to jackfruits but smaller. It can be fried like fried slice banana or eaten normally. Theweaving clothes of KohYoris famous and popular among Thai weaving cloth lovers. The patterns of the cloth are unique such as Rachawat, Dokpikul, and Dokpayom pattern. KohYor is also the location of raisingwhite perch in floating baskets in Songkhla Lake.

Most local people in KohYor are fruit gardeners, fishermen, and traditional cloth weavers.

KohYor has abundant natural resources and also traditional traditions and culture such as “HaeHom Rub Ruen Sib” and “KuenKhaoKood” which have made KohYor community strong and livable.

The guideline to KohYor Sub-District development is according to the vision of the development that local people created in 1997 which is conveyed into many aspects such as traditional tradition rehabilitation including “LoiPae” tradition by the cultural council of KohYor, traditional weaving preservation by Rachawat Group, herbal garden and local architectural preservation by Wat Tai Yor. The most important thing is ecotourism route in KohYor which was tested in cultural route and has been developed into KohYor agricultural tourism nowadays. Ecotourism is the development strategy for sustainable livability.
