Chulabhorn Dam is at Tambon Thung Phra and straddles the Phrom River. It is a rock-filled dam with an clay core, stretching 700 meters horizontally and 70 meters vertically. The multi-purpose dam generates electricity, helps irrigate nearby agricultural zones, as well as provides a scenic spot for boating and tourism.

Boats are available for hire to for sightseeing, which include sights within the dam area: Chulabhorn Dam Park, where a pavilion is provided amongst the greenery for relaxation; the revered statue of Phra Phutthasiri Sakkharat (opposite Chulabhorn Dam Park); the Lup Khuan View Pavilion, which is a viewpoint more than 800 meters high; and the waterfront grounds by the Royal Residence, where views of the dam and the reservoir can be enjoyed. 

To get to the dam, take the Chaiyaphum - Chum Phae road (Highway No. 201) to Nong Song Hong junction, then turn left onto Highway No. 2055. The distance totals 120 kilometers from Chaiyaphum town. If taking the Lom Sak – Chum Phae route (Highway No. 12), take the turn off at Amphoe Khon Sarn for 40 kilometers to reach the dam.

The dam is open to visitors daily from 8.00 am-4.00 pm.
