Attraction Details :

Phitsanulok was one of the capital cities during Sukhothai and Ayutthaya kingdoms, and Chan Palace, which was estimated to be built in the 13th century, was believed to serve as a royal residence for several kings, crown princes and princes. According to the history, it was the birthplace and residence of King Naresuan the Great, one of Thailand's greatest kings. After his reign, the palace was neglected and ruined so that no one knew its existence. The compound later become the site of the premise of the province's premier school, which accidentally discovered the remaining structures during the construction of its new building. The school later moved out and the area was being excavated to become an archeological site. To date, the first phase of excavation was completed and ready to welcome visitors to learn the history while the other phase of excavation is still ongoing.
