Chiang Rai Thai Tours is a family business and was established by the only westerner in the family, Bruce Smith, who is married to the fourth Daughter Kamjilar. The company was established with 2 main goals in mind. The first was to establish a business that could help retrain the family and provide them with the capabilities to earn an income from something other than the rural sector which was sending them all into debt.
The second goal was to give tourist the opportunity to be able to go on a tour and not have to wake before the sun rise or feel like they where being herded from one destination to another. Two very simple ideas that have proven to be very successful in making Chiang Rai Thai Tours one of the leading small tour companies in northern Thailand.
