Traveller's Rating

We drove to Ko Samui with a Thai Highway map in hand. The distance is about 500 kilometers from Sungei Kolok to the jetty at Surat Thani. We passed Narathiwat, Patani, Songkla and Nakhon Si Thammarat before reaching the harbor in Surat Thani. The distance from the harbor to Ko Samui takes about one and half hour. Since it was our first time driving there, we stopped a few times for photography and refreshment along the way. Ko Samui is a small Island. We visited Nathon ( Main Town), Bor Phut (Big Buddha), Chaweng Beach (Chaweng View Point) and Lamai Beach (Hin Ta – Hin Yai Rock), and the fisherman's village. If you don't own a car, you can hire a Motorbike. I think Ko Samui is beautiful and best suitable for those who enjoy beautiful scenery and slow pace of life. There are some big shopping malls and hyper markets such as The Big C, Macro and Tesco which offer a lot of imported food and goods. We stayed at Ananta Lamai Beach Resort during our entire trip.
