We, the two families, total 8 persons including 4 teenagers planned a 10 days holiday of Thailan in July, 2010. Lot of people advised us to not to go there due to local demonstrations etc and negative media reports. But I was just back from there from a Business Trip and found that the condition in Thailand were back to normal.
First direct from the Bangkok airport, we took AirAsia flight to Chiangmai. This was our first trip to Chiang Mai therefore we did extensive homework to know about Chiang Mai and selected hotel Meridian which was centraly located and above all, right in the middle of hot spot as the famous night market was just at the doorstop of the hotel. We were glad that we made this choice. Hotel was very confirtable.. and after rest when we walked out of the hotel, we were in the middle of the night market. It looked like that we were the only tourist as there was no rush at all. We had great time as getting good bargains at the shops, huge variety of items, from local craft to imported material.
Next day, we took a luxury van for visit to National Park. And really we never imagined that it will be so beautiful.. and just hardly at one hours drive. First we saw the hightest point in Thailand. It was really amazing.... then we saw many water falls, temples and also tasted delicious Thai food.
Next two days we visited temples in the city, local market and the Younger memeber of our group took a amazing jungle trip. We also went to the Tiger Kingdom and spend fabolus time with tiger cubs.
From Chiangmai, we took return flight to Bangkok and directly from Bangkok we took a van for Pattaya. At Pattaya, we stayed at SiamBay View hotel. It has perfect location, beach front, and huge swimming pool. Pattaya has something for everybody. We spend lot of time on the beach.. tried tatoo also.. Its really fun. Also visited Madam Tusaads Museusm, Belive it of Not and lot of mega shopping malls. We really surprised that why people say that Pattaya is not a family place? We really enjoyed it.
Then we returned back to Bangkok and stayed at hotel Landmark on Sukhumvit. Sukhumvit is very lively area and full of fun and shops... We took sky train to go to Siam area which has Mega Shopping malls like MBK etc. You can really get good bargain in Bangkok. Bangkok is soppers heaven. The only worry now we had was of excess baggage on our travel back to India.
