This is a is a national park in a region of steep mountains bordering with Laos in the northern part, in Chaiburi district. Lan Hin Pum and Lan Hin Taek at Phu Hin Long Kla. Phu Hin Rong Kla covers two provinces which are Loei (some areas of Dan Sai District) and Phisanulok (Nakhon Thai District). Between 1968 -1972, this area was the location of Communist insurgents.
Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park is an attractive place for people who love to walk. However, there is an asphalt road leading to the top of the mountain and all attractions. Therefore, all ages can visit.
You should have about three days and two nights to travel around Phu Hin Rong Kla. Phu Hin Rong Kla provides two choices for tourists. The first choice are the historical attractions which are the former communist headquarters where there is a cafeteria, cloth shop, meeting place, jail and intelligence center and Muan Chon village.
The second choice is the natural attractions, which are waterfalls, viewpoints, and hiking. At the beginning of the journey, you will see Kang Lad and Tad Fa waterfalls. Then, walking through the national park office, you will see a stunning sight called Lan Hin Pum. The stones are misshapen and lumpy in shape believed to be formed by chemical erosion. This is one of the most amazing places in Thailand. The way to Lan Hin Pum is quite flat. In the rainy season, you can see numerous types of flowers such as doritis, narrow-leaf zinnia, wild orchid, and Caulokaempferia. In winter, you can see the beauty of white roses. Pha Chu Tong is a viewpoint from which you can see the most beautiful sunset in the park. Please do not miss visiting the waterfalls of Rom Klao-Pradorn, Man Daeng and Sri Pacharin waterfall which are the most gorgeous in the national park.
How to get there
Phu Hin Rong Kla is one of the peaks in Phetchabun Province and in the area of Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park. You can start at Phitsanulok Province by using route no. 12 (Phitsanulok-Lom Sak). Then, after about 68 kilometers, turn left to Nakhon Thai District at Baan Yang Junction. Follow the route no. 2013 about 29 kilometers and turn right to route no. 2331 about 28 kilometers. After that, the journey it is uphill and narrow. Please drive carefully until you arrive the office of the national park that is about 125 kilometers from Phisanulok.
High Season: Every month, but the winter has the most beautiful atmosphere.
