Phra Chudadhuj Palace

Phra Chudadhuj Palace

Phra Chudadhuj Palace, the gorgeous palace on Si Chang Island, Chonburi Province.

Phra Chudadhuj is a vacation palace on Si Chang Island and is the nearest palace from Bangkok. In the era of King Rama V, the king came and stayed for about a year. In 1888, there were three buildings, which were Wattana, Phong Sri, and Aphirom. These buildings were built for the convalescence of patients. In 1892, construction began on Phra Chudadhuj Palace named from the prince who was born on this island. Then the Franco-Siamese War broke out. The king wanted to demolish the old palace and designed a new one called Vimanmek Palace at Dusit Palace in 1899.

Phra Chudadhuj Palace is located in the middle of perfumed temple trees. Each building is beautifully situated on hillsides in descending order: the Green Building, Wattana, and Aphirom (tourists love to take photos because it is close to the seashore). In front of the palace, there is a beach named Ta Wang Beach where swimmers are able to dive into the sea.

The other attraction recommended for you is Wat Assadangnit Pagoda located on Chula Chomklao Mountain. It is a round-shaped building. The upper part of the building is designed as a combination of Western and Eastern styles. Chong Khao Khad and Hin Khom beach are attractive places to experience stunning sunsets.

Tourists can drop by and taste seafood or take some home at both Sri Racha District and Si Chang Island. There are several recommended dishes such as steamed blue swimming crab, hot and sour soup with giant catfish spawn, and omelet with oysters.
